$1.2 Million for the family of man killed by OFF-DUTY Chicago Police Officer

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, it looks like the City of Chicago will pay out over a million dollars to compensate the family of a seventeen-year old, named Corey Harris, who was shot in the back and killed by a police officer- while the officer was off-duty. Chicago Police claim that the young man was involved in a shooting. But, the young man’s family’s lawsuit alleged that the off-duty officer fired “wildly” and hit the young man.

Point being, you and your family have certain rights and can be compensated when police, whether or not on-duty, allegedly commit misconduct. Now, we all know that most officers do not abuse their power and are good upstanding citizens. BUT, there are also officers who think they are above the law and act with misconduct. If you think you, a friend, or a family member have been the victim of police misconduct, you may be entitled to monetary compensation.
